Definitions

  • My invention has for its object an apparatus for stirring or mixing dyeing baths according to which gas is fed into the dyeing bath through a tube leading to the vicinity of the bottom of said bath, the gas escaping then out of the end of the tube towards the free level of the bath in the shape of bubbles that provide an excellent stirring of the dyeing bath.
  • My invention has further for its object a device for stirring dyeing baths comprising arpipe for feeding gas down to the bottom of the bath and terminating at its lower end with a distributing system providing for a regular distribution of the gas.
  • the dyeing vat l is drawn in dot-and-dash lines.
  • Said vat containing the dyeing bath carries a dishshaped cover 2 through which the gas-feeding 2 pipe3 passes.
  • Said pipe extending down to the bottom of the vat is provided at its lower end with radial distributing pipes 3 provided each at its outer end with an opening 3 directed downwardly and forming a nozzle.
  • the .gas-feeding pipe is provided with a wheel-shaped member 4 that is intended for holding the material to be dyed, that is immersed in the bath, underneath it so that it may not rise inside the vat.
  • This material-holding member 4 may as well be constituted by a perforated disc or a grating made of wire.
  • the gas-feeding tube is also provided with a centering ring 5 secured to it and resting on the cover 2, said ring serving simultaneously as a suspension member for the pipe 3.
  • the gas-feeding pipe is connected with a supply of compressed air and is introduced into the vat l containing the dyeing bath as well as the textile material to be dyed.
  • the air passing out of the nozzle 3 rises inside the dyeing bath and forms bubbles therein whereby the dyeing liquid is set into motion. This ensures an excellent stirring of the bath and thereby a perfectly uniform dyeing of the textile material.
  • the froth collects on the perforated cover 2 that is provided with a peripheral flange preventing any overflowing of liquid or loss of froth.
  • the air feeding the pipe 3 may be cold or else it may be used after preheating in order to avoid any undesired cooling of the hot dyeing bath. Instead of air, it is possible tomake use of nitrogen, which would be of particular interest in the case where the dyeing liquid is sensitive to the action of oxygen.
  • An arrangement for stirring dyeing baths contained in a vat comprising a dish-shaped cover for said vat having an upstanding peripheral ange thereon, said cover having perforations therein for the passage of froth out of the bath onto the cover and to be held thereon, an opening through said cover, a gas feeding pipe extending through said opening, a centering ring adjustably secured to said pipe and resting on said cover, said centering ring constituting a suspension member for said pipe, a plurality of radial horizontal pipes at the lower end of said gas feeding vpipe having downwardly directed nozzle-shaped openings at the outer ends thereof adapted for the passage therethrough of gas, said radial pipe adapted for uniformly distributing gas inside the bath, and a vertically adjustable wheel-shaped member cn 3 said gas feeding pipe between said cover end said UNITED STATES PATENTS radial pipes, said Wheel-shaped member being Number adapted to prevent material to be dyed from ris- 174 054 Augame Feb B22581876 ine e
